Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown

1. How are Spanish speaking women interactions with men within the same culture?
The women seem to be open about themselves they are very touchy, flirtatious, and expressionist. I noticed a lot of eye contact between both and personal space didn't seem to exist. I'm not sure if the feelings in the film were over reacted but of course for the sake of the film being a comedy. which I personally found it to be very funny. And of course it was in the 70's. I'm not even sure if this film is showing a different cultural as far as men and women are concerned. The men in the film certainly were "players." The women were followers.

2. Do you find differences between women in the film and today's American women?
Yes in fact I do. The majority of women don't invade personal space or have as much eye contact. A lot of us are more independent. I think that women today even teach the children to be independent. Not to think that you need a man to take care of you. It's not the good old days were the women stays at home. I don't think there would be much difference in the film today except for cultural things such as pets.

3. Impressions on the plot.
First of all films have an underlying meaning and are usually real life situations. we all have watched Jerry springer type shows. I wanted to yell "Jerry, Jerry" while i was watching, that's why it was so comical. this stuff happens all the time. Pepa was no different than other women not matter the culture. let's face at one time or another we have been Pepa or know someone who is. Even some men act this way. so is it culture or just men and women or what we have seen or been taught? I did find the plot amusing the way they all ended up connected.

4. Do you think there is a difference among Spanish America and women from Spanish Europe?
Of course just because of the cultural difference. Some cultures the women's faces can't be seen in public. There will always be differences from culture to culture. I can't state specifics because I am pretty ignorant went it comes to cultures other than my own. I don't think until this class that I even thought a lot about my own.
