1.My thoughts on these two children Gonzalo and Pedro interaction; First of all i think that Gonzalo was an open minded child. He didn't seem to want to follow the other kids that were mean about the poor kids that were coming to the school. Muchuca was a tough kid that wasn't going to take anyone picking on him. Gonzalo was already picked on at the school. So I think that they had a good friendship. Ganzalo found someone who wanted to be his friend and he found a way to escape from his home life also. I felt that Pedro had alot to teach Gazaol about life when you don't have much. I was glad for the most part of the film when they could just be kids and be friends.
2. It was easy to see the differences between the rich and poor in Chile. I think that it was sad to watch. My eyes teared many times. I wanted them to stay friends. It was very sad at the end of the movie when Gonzalo was able to just walk away because he was not poor. It was hard to watch the rich kids shun the poor kids. To see the things we take forgranted. To see Pedro's house. To have to use an outhouse.
3. There were very many messages in this film. First of all social classes still exist. This film reminds us of the harness in the world. If we were all equal life would be easier. It's unfortunate that kids are not always able to just be kids. The film shows how cruel adults and children can be. This is another film that makes me grateful that I have the opportunity to provide for my family. To teach my children to be kind, caring, and thankful.
4. I think that I have already given some personal thoughts. I hope that one day we can learn from our own history. As far as the film goes it showed two kids that just accepted eachother. I felt soory for them at the end. It was hard to think about Pedro and what could have happened to him. And hard to watch Ganzalo have to think of his own self and use having money to be able to walk away. The rich adults in the film showed racism many times. They didn't want their children to go to school with poor children. so no wonder some of the children felt that way thier parents are teaching it. the content of the film is harsh reality. this type of behavior happens all over the world. It kills me to hear people complain so much about what they don't have or think that they deserve. This type of film should remind people to be thankful. some people have nothing.

Your interpretation is quite close to how I saw this film as well. After the uncomfortable barrier was broken they were just two normal kids doing what kids do. The classes were definately easy to distinguish as you had mentioned. As long as man has been on this earth there has always been issues with social class. But why do we have to treat people any differently just because someone has more money than the other person? I think what you said about being thankful for what you have should be good enough. It's the simple things in life that make life worth living anyway.
ReplyDeleteGreat input, even in our days people treat others better base on the money they have, that is certainly hard to take.
ReplyDeleteWOW! After reading the last line in your post I had a reality check. I am unfortunately one of those people who always want more. I am willing to work hard for it but often overlook what I do have. Thanks. As for the movie I too thought it was sad that kids just couldn't be kids. It seemed like everyone had to choose a side instead of everybody just getting along. I too shudder to think what might have happened to Pedro. I just couldn't believe how a group of people can just destroy everything in a matter of hours. It was sad that Gonzalo had to resort to distinguishing between his class and Pedro's. I don't think in the face of murderers any of us would have done differently. I can just imagine how that would have effected the future Pedro's views on society. Overall a great story of friendship crossing social boundaries.
